Time Is for the Rich and Titles Are for the Decisive

Well. It has been a while, hasn’t it?

Trying to adjust to life as a parent of three has made me aware of just how ephemeral and rapid-paced is this thing, “the blog”. Since Monkey #3 arrived I rarely have 10 consecutive minutes to sit down and write, which seems barely enough to get a train of thought out of the station. I’ve found myself struck by this article, that film or another piece of news; I begin writing about it, but when a week later when I return to my computer I find that it already feels like old news. I seem to recall C. S. Lewis saying that reading the news was pointless because we don’t know yet which events are significant and which forgettable? Anyway.

But I do find myself returning to internal arguments that began in the numerous half-baked posts, so perhaps there are some things there that I’d still like to examine for myself, even if the rest of the world has moved on to the Next Big Thing. I’ve decided to throw my attempts at rhetorical kairos out the window: instead of trying again (and failing again) to hassle through writing a post in a single sitting, then rejecting half-written things because they’re out of date, I’m just going to finish the ones I’ve begun.

And I’ve used today’s 10 minutes writing this, so you’ll have to stay tuned for a real post… sometime 🙂
